This exhibition introduces the early days of the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Art Institute) and the ideas of Okakura Tenshin, who wanted to bring new life to Japanese art. You will see works by famous artists who were part of the institute when it first began. Their paintings show how Tenshin’s thoughts inspired a new direction in Japanese art.
