The Beauty of Nature: The Art of Taikan

The exhibition highlights Yokoyama Taikan’s expressive use of color through works such as the folding screen Persimmons and Autumn Leaves and Night, which is said to depict the little owl that frequently visited Taikan’s garden. Also on view are seasonally inspired works by artists associated with Taikan, including Hishida Shunsō and Kawabata Ryūshi.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the summer section of Taikan’s final handscroll masterpiece, Shiki Sansui (Landscapes of the Four Seasons).
