77In 1926, Taikan created fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) of pine, bamboo, and plum for the imperial household of Prince Kuninomiya. This is the study of the plum tree part, in which the painting for the sliding door was mounted as a folding screen.　大正15年、大観は御下命を受け、久邇宮殿下新御殿の■絵（松、竹、梅）を制作した。本習作はこのときに描かれたもので、現在は屏風に仕立てられている。　左に伸びる幹の力強い表現や、苔をあらわす緑青の鮮やかさが印象的で、さらに紅梅の雄お蕊しべには金を用い、華やかさを添えている。画面左にはわずかに白梅も描かれる。
