38This piece was made as the master drawing of furoshiki (Japanese wrapping cloth). The Chinese character “(kotobuki-longevity, celebration)” written in the middle has an auspicious meaning, which Taikan used in many of his drawings and calligraphy works. 29寿ことぶきに松しょう竹ちく梅ばい昭和14（1939）年頃額紙本85.5 × 85.5 cm 風呂敷の原図として描かれた。中央に書かれた「寿」の字は縁起ものであり、大観は絵画や書の作品によくこの字を書きこんでいる。力強く大胆な書体のまわりには、真っ白の松竹梅が描き込まれ、発色の鮮やかな青の画面にくっきりと映えている。Shōchikubai-Pine, Bamboo, and Plum around Kotobuki Letter
