28In 1930, Taikan left for Italy to participate in the Japanese Art Exhibition held in Rome. The motif of this piece is based on the scenery he saw during his stopover at Singapore on his way to Europe.19シンガポール所しょ見けん昭和5（1930）年掛軸紙本45.0 × 20.0 cm 昭和5年、大観は、ローマでの日本美術展開催にあたりイタリアに赴いた。この作品は、その渡航時、シンガポールに寄港した際に見た光景を描いたものである。船の乗客が放ったコインを、海中にもぐって拾う現地の少年たちの姿が、当時乗客たちの興味をひいたという。小品ながら、水墨の軽妙な筆づかいで人物の動きが捉えられた、旅の記念ともいえる作品である。Impression of Singapore
