25On a surface painted entirely in a faint, light color, fishermen, boats, birds and so on are subtly depicted using ink-and-wash. The sunrise (or perhaps sunset) color tinging the entire work is striking, and this sky hue is also reflected on the water’s surface. The work is reminiscent of the “mōrōtai” style that Taikan explored in the Meiji period.17漁ぎょ舟しゅう昭和4（1929）年頃掛軸絹本62.0 × 82.5 cm 淡く明るい色を一面に塗り、その上に水墨で、漁師たち、舟、鳥などを精緻に描き出している。画面全体を染める茜色が印象的な作品で、この空の色は水面にも映し出されている。明治期に大観が試みていた「朦朧体」の表現を想起させる作品である。Fishing Boats
