The gold paint used for the crescent moon and the eyes of the owl adds a special touch. 15夜よる大正11（1922）年掛軸絹本141.5 × 78.0 cm 《木菟》同様、線描の技術をいっさい見せず、ぼかしのみによる水墨表現を追求した作品。竹藪の奥には赤みを帯びた三日月が怪しげな光を放ち、ミミズクの姿を照らし出している。 大観は、これに類似する作品《夜》を再興第9回日本美術院展に出品しており、「神秘的静寂」「陰惨な気分」「怖ろしきまでの暗闇」など評された。夜の表現が、見るものに様々な印象を与えたことがわかる。Night
