2前庭前庭After the death of Yokoyama Taikan, bereaved family donated Taikan’s works, studies, articles, sketches, etc., to the Foundation in November 1976, the year Yokoyama Taikan Memorial Hall opened.The former residence and garden of Yokoyama Taikan was designated as a national historic site and place of scenic beauty on February 9, 2017.　横山大観記念館は、大観亡き後、横山家から大観の暮らした邸宅と大観作品及び大観が収集したコレクション等の寄贈を受け、昭和51年に私立博物館として設立されました。貴重な文化財を保護・公開するとともに、日本美術の発展のために尽力した大観の遺志を受け継ぎ、近代日本文化発信のために様々な活動を行っています。平成29年2月、日本の近代美術史及び造園史の展開を考える上で貴重であることから、この邸宅は、横山大観旧宅及び庭園として、国の史跡及び名勝に指定されました。
