6阿あやめ明治34（1901）年頃掛軸絹本131.0 × 70.0cm13A large piece of a portrait of a beauty, which is an uncommon motif for Taikan. The old box inscription reads: “Suikyō”, which is a word that means a water surface that can reflect the true form of objects. 大観には珍しい美人画。浮世絵ふうの人物にとりくんだ点においても異色である。着物や帯の模様、髪型など、元禄時代の風俗に取材した女性像は、明治後期、日露戦争後の景気を背景とする元禄ブームの影響を受けたものだろう。墨線を控えた美しい色彩表現については、印象派などの西洋近代絵画を意識した可能性もある。Irises
